S. Baljit Singh Sekhon "A Great Visionary" and Former (Late) President Pheruman Trust & College Managing Committee who
sadly passed on June 13, 2022. S. Baljit Singh Sekhon the great Academician and Stalwart in the field of Education
served various Universities (G.N.D.U, LPU, and PU) at several leadership positions spanning more than four decade, with
extra ordinary commitment and dedication to duty in a manner which earned him the respect of many higher education
stakeholders across the globe. These words captured in the 50th Anniversary of Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman
demonstrate his interconnectedness and long standing relationship with the Trust's leadership. "I have been the
President of Pheruman Trust governing body from early 2015 and during the period the Trust has made tremendous
transformative progress with prolonged stability". Under his dexterous guidelines, the Trust has flourished S.D.S.P
Public School, Rayya, S.D.S.P Public School, Butala, Jathedar Sohan Singh Jallalusman Public School, Jallalusman and
very newly opened S.D.S.P.M English School, Ram Tirath Road, Amritsar.
He has been the president of S.D.S.P.Memorial College Managing Committee till his last breath. The College affiliated
with G.N.D.U, Amritsar and has been scaling the hights in the field of Academics, Sports and Extracurricular Activities
under his expertise round the clock. S.D.S.P.Memorial Collegiate Girls Sen. Sec. School has been the part of S.D.S.P
Memorial College For Women, Rayya has been thriving under his guidance.
The Pheruman Trust wishes place on record our deep appreciation to S. Baljit Singh Sekhon for his tenacity and resource
fullness in serving the institution of higher education and for his great contribution to advancing education excellence
in the continent and beyond. As a seasonal educator, he inspired and touched the lives of many students in profound way,
contributing and the shaping of a young generation that will honour his legacy and continue to lead the agenda of
driving the prestigious institutions being run under the aegis of Pheruman Trust to the next developing phase.
The higher education institution indeed filled with deep sadness and will miss his warmth camaraderie, the frank and
robust exchanges and discussion with him at various platforms where key decisions setting the agenda and targets of
higher education in the college were taken. Through his good leadership and key result achieved on various fronts, S.
Baljit Singh Sekhon leaves us with fond memories and meaningful learning from his unswerving sense of duty, that hard
work and professionalism are great qualities worthy of emulation.
S. Baljit Singh Sekhon will forever be celebrated for playing a key role in transforming the higher education sector and
for being a mentor to many people impacting and inspiring generations to build an even strong higher education system.
His life and work dedicated to promote "Female Education" will always be a "Torch Bearer" for the generation to come.
